Michelle in London
“Living and working in west London has been a great experience. This area is a magnet for Australians and New Zealanders alike because of its great access to London and the surrounding areas.

temptation is never far away...”

The tube and bus system makes it so easy to get in and around London. There are a myriad of West End shows, cool clubs and restaurants to visit by night and galleries, parks and architecture to see by day. Visit Speaker’s Corner in Hyde Park, watch the changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace, or wander through Camden Markets with hundreds of other people looking for a bargain. The diversity of activities available ensures that every taste is catered for.

Special events pepper the calendar. Long summer days mean that you can visit Wimbledon even after work and see some excellent tennis. “Party in the Park” is a great way to experience live music in a very relaxed atmosphere. Christmas shopping on Oxford St and then stopping in to one of the many restaurants or pubs on the way home for a bite to eat is just one way to spend a winter’s day.

Working in a west London school on a contract means that a break is never far away. It also means that there are a wide variety of transport links including the Eurostar and a number of airports on your doorstep. Mid term holidays have included trips to Turkey, Spain and a ski trip to the French Alps. Summer holidays are longer. A scenic driving holiday through Italy and France for 5 weeks began with a short ferry trip across the English Channel.

There is so much to explore in the London area that you need never leave. However it is so easy to travel that the temptation is never far away."
