Bristol has lots of history, mostly owing to the ports which were at the centre of most of England’s trade. There are many historical places of interest in Bristol, and although most of the city is modern, there are still cobbled streets and medieval architecture. The most popular places of interest may be the Bristol City Museum, Bristol Zoo and the SS Great Britain, the first steamship to have an iron hull, in its dry dock alongside the Floating Harbour, best viewed from Cabot Tower on Brandon Hill.

Also there is a large independent music scene, which is supported by a many of the smaller, more traditional pubs. The Hole in the Wall pub near Queen Square is said to have been the inspiration for the Spyglass Inn in Robert Louis Stevenson's Treasure Island.
