National Insurance

Australian Direct Recruitment

In order to obtain Medical treatment, all temporary UK residents need a National Insurance Number (NI Number).

National Insurance contributions are made automatically from your salary each week, which fund the UK benefits including the National Health Service, unemployment benefit and pension scheme.

Once you have arrived and established a residential address in the UK, it is important to remember to apply for your NI number immediately, as the process may take some time.

Your UK consultant can advise you how to get in contact with your local Department of Social Security (DSS) office. Please inform us of your National Insurance number, when you receive it.

If you commence work before your National Insuance number has been issued, a temporary number will be provided for you.
