For Teaching In The UK

Your resume reflects your teaching style and experience and can directly influence the opportunities available to you.

This document is a selling tool – an ideal opportunity to show what you can offer....

There are no specific education formats to adhere to, but we would suggest that the following guidelines should apply:

Keep it short - Two to three sides of A4 is sufficient
Well presented - Continuity with both spacing and fonts
Avoid complex layouts and graphics – A simple Word document

Format

Personal Details - Who you are and where you can be contacted.
Personal Profile - Your motivation for seeking employment in the UK.
Qualifications - Academic qualifications, University, dates and course duration
Employment History - Include: dates, duration of employment, subjects taught, type of school. Positions of responsibility. Make sure there are no gaps. For newly qualified teachers list your teaching practices as employment history.
Additional Information - Personal interests, hobbies, sports etc
References - Professional referees who are willing to provide information on your work or University history. References should include your most recent employer and cover a minimum of two years.
